A Melodic Sound Healing Journey at Taj Bekal Spa & Resort

As a holistic music therapist and sound healer, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the transformative power of sound therapy in many lives. One such memorable experience was the melodic sound healing session I offered to Meera Rajda ji, the head of Dinesh Shahra Foundation at the serene Taj Bekal Spa & Resort. Nestled amidst the tranquil backwaters of Kerala, the resort provided the perfect setting for Meera ji to embark on her journey of healing and renewal.

The session began in a softly lit room infused with the soothing scent of lavender essential oil. Meera ji, an inquisitive and vibrant soul, lay comfortably on a plush mat, eager to explore the benefits of sound healing. I explained how the session would unfold, emphasizing that the therapeutic sounds would work on a deep, vibrational level to balance her chakras, relieve stress, and foster a profound sense of well-being.

As the first note resonated from the Tibetan singing bowl, the room was filled with a gentle hum that seemed to embrace her. The vibrations set the tone, grounding her energy and creating a cocoon of calm. I followed with the delicate notes of a crystal harp, which rang out like tiny, shimmering stars, connecting her to higher vibrational states. Layering in the soft chime of tingshas, I moved intuitively, tuning into her energy field to address any blockages or imbalances.

The session unfolded as a symphony of healing frequencies. The deep, reverberating tones of the gong rippled through the space, releasing tension and clearing stagnant energy. I played intuitively, allowing the sounds to flow freely and harmoniously, guiding Meera into a state of deep relaxation. Her breath became slower and steadier as she surrendered to the therapeutic power of sound.

After an hour of immersion in this melodic journey, I gently brought her back to the present moment with the soft tones of Koshi chimes. She opened her eyes slowly, her face glowing with serenity.

“That was truly amazing,” Meera ji said, her voice carrying a newfound lightness. “I saw colors—beautiful, swirling hues of blue and green. It felt as though I was floating in a vast, peaceful space. I’ve never experienced anything like this before.”

I explained that the colors she saw likely corresponded to her throat and heart chakras, which were aligning and healing during the session. Such experiences are common in sound healing, reflecting the deep connection between the vibrational energy of sound and our inner selves.

Meera ji shared how calm and rejuvenated she felt, describing a lightness in her body and a sense of clarity in her mind. We spoke about the holistic benefits of sound healing—how it not only relieves stress and anxiety but also improves sleep, boosts immunity, and supports overall physical health.

As she left the room, she paused to reflect, “Sound truly is a medicine. Thank you for this incredible experience—it’s a gift I didn’t know I needed.”

Moments like this affirm my belief in the profound power of sound. It’s more than a therapy; it’s a journey, a transformation, and a connection to something greater. Through sound, we explore not just the benefits of healing but the limitless potential of treating ourselves with kindness and care.
