The Transformative Power of Music: A Journey with My Daughter

Image
As a mother and a music healer, I’ve often witnessed the profound impact music can have on people—helping them heal, grow, and connect with themselves. But recently, I experienced something deeply personal: how music can gently nudge a shy child out of her shell and open her heart to confidence and joy. My daughter is a reserved child. At home, she’s quiet and often hesitant to participate in activities, even though her teachers tell me how beautifully she dances in school. It’s always been a mystery—how she blooms in the classroom yet remains so guarded at home. I knew that music could be a bridge, a language beyond words, to help her express and connect. So, I took a leap. I gently pushed her to sing with me on stage for the first time. We chose a beautiful children’s song by the legendary Assamese singer and composer Keshab Mahanta—“Bahor murha bogorir gura eta je asil burha.” This wasn’t just any song.   Beyond Beauty: Self-Care Through Sound Healing and Music Do you think going to a beauty parlour is the only self-care we should do? In today’s world, self-care is often associated with spa treatments, facials, and salon visits. While these are wonderful ways to pamper oneself, true self-care goes far beyond external beauty. It is about nurturing the mind, body, and soul—aligning ourselves with inner harmony and balance. This International Women’s Day, I want to share a different perspective on self-care—one that has transformed my life and continues to empower me every day. My self-care routine doesn’t involve beauty treatments; instead, it revolves around sound, vibration, and mindfulness. Every morning, I dedicate an hour to myself—a sacred time for yoga, meditation, mantra chanting, and my daily vocal riyaz (practice). This is not just a ritual; it is my way of realigning my energy, balancing my chakras, and strengthening my decision-making abilities. My Self-Care Ritual:...
